ODE TO THE DISPOSABLE CAMERA

Nice to meet you, I'm Heather.
I'm currently a junior at the University of Michigan studying Cognitive Science with a focus in Decision Making and Cognition with a minor in Entrepreneurship.

Since saving my tip money for my first camera when I was fifteen, I have spent the majority of my time behind the camera or with my close friend Adobe Photoshop. That is, until my computer broke last year and I could no longer edit photos.

That's when I turned to disposable cameras.

I love photography for its ability to freeze a moment - to freeze a smile, a feeling, a memory. Using disposable cameras introduced me to another aspect of photography, one where I can't edit the photos. And I love it.
This blog explores that experience and the resurgence of people attempting to recreate the aesthetic of film photography.
About the photos on this website:
All of the photos featured on this blog are mine, taken on a variety of different disposable cameras bought from drugstores or gifted to me. They are not staged or posed - they are snapshots of my life and what I see.
